The selection process takes place through a selection exam, coordinated and administered by an examination committee composed of faculty members accredited to the program. Candidates are selected based on their ranking in this exam, up to the number of available spots.
Each selection process is announced through public notices, which are usually published once a year between September and November. However, the date of publication of the public notice may change according to the decision of the PPGEE Teaching Committee (CEPG).

A aprovação no exame de seleção permite a matrícula no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ecologia e Evolução da Universidade Federal de São Paulo no ano de 2026 2027, desde que o resultado final do novo edital de ingresso do PPGEE não seja publicado."
