Defense
Pre-defense obligations
The student will be able to defend his/her master's thesis after:
I. has completed all the credits in obligatory and elective classes, and in complementary activities, by applying to the CEPG, on a specific form (Credits Fulfillment Form, and Complementary Activities Form), for the use of these credits.
II. demonstrate that they have participated in at least one scientific/academic event during the period in which they were enrolled in the PPGEE, presenting research related to their master's degree.
III. CAPES or other funding agency scholarship holders must have completed at least one internship in the Didactic Improvement Program (PAD).
IV. submit a copy of the CEP or CEUA approval certificate (depending on the case).
V. demonstrate that they have submitted their English language proficiency certificate by the deadline established in these regulations.
Solicitação da defesa
The request for the defense of the master's dissertation is made by the supervisor to the CEPG, using a specific form, where the composition of the examining boardis suggested. The supervisor must also submit to the CEPG the final version of the master's thesis, which must be accompanied by the similarity report provided by the Turnitin platform or another recognized platform indicated by the CEPG (Turnitin step-by-step).
The examining board
The examining board for the master's dissertation or equivalent work will be made up of three (3) evaluators, including the supervisor, who will be the chairman of the board. The defense of the master's thesis must take place in a public session, either in person or remotely (in which case the session must be recorded).
In the composition of the examining board of the master's thesis or equivalent work, at least one of the members must be external to Unifesp and not belong to the PPGEE's body of supervisors. The judging committee for the master's thesis or equivalent work must have two (2) substitute members, at least one of whom must be external to Unifesp and to the PPGEE body of supervisors.
Dissertation format
The master's dissertation must be written in Portuguese or English and must be written in the traditional form, in chapters or in the form of an article. If the student chooses the article format, the text of the dissertation must follow the formatting of a journal in the field of ecology and/or evolution indexed in Scopus or Web of Science, or equivalent recognized and indicated by the CEPG of the PPGEE. In addition, the dissertation in article form requires that, in the volume of the dissertation, the article(s) be preceded by an overview of the current state of the art, locating the object of study within the area and justifying it, as well as a general conclusion that permeates all the results presented in the form of publication(s).
